Step-by-Step: How to Wear Your Safety Harness Properly
- Inspect the Harness Thoroughly
Before anything else, inspect your harness. Look for frayed straps, worn buckles, or damaged stitching. If anything looks suspicious, do not use it. - Hold the Dorsal D-Ring
Pick up the harness by the D-ring at the back. The straps should fall freely and untangled. This makes the harness easier to manage. - Slip On the Shoulder Straps
Put your arms through the shoulder straps as if you’re wearing a vest. Ensure the straps are not twisted. - Secure the Leg Straps
Connect the leg straps around each thigh. Buckle them snugly but not too tight. You should be able to fit a flat hand in. - Fasten the Chest Strap
The chest strap should rest across the chest, not the stomach. Buckle it tightly enough to stay in place during movement. - Adjust for a Snug Fit
Adjust all straps so the harness fits snugly but allows free movement. A loose harness can cause severe injury in a fall. - Double-Check the Fit
Bend, stretch, and squat. Make sure the harness stays in place and doesn’t shift. If it does, adjust again.
